Bodegas D. Mateos

Mateo Ruiz Moreno is the seventh generation of a family with a deep winemaking tradition in La Rioja. Since childhood, he has been connected to the world of wine, growing up among vineyards and preserving his grandmother Guillermina’s old family winery. Trained as an agricultural engineer, he combines inherited knowledge with technical expertise to enhance the value of his legacy.

In 2000, he founded Bodegas D. Mateos in Aldeanueva de Ebro, where he produces wines with personality, a true reflection of the Rioja land. Committed to innovation, he collaborates on R&D projects with CIDA and the University of La Rioja. His most personal range, La Colección de Familia La Mateo, is a tribute to his ancestors and the family spirit that inspires him.

The winery has its own vineyards over 45 years old, planted in goblet style between 375 and 650 meters of altitude on the slopes of Mount Yerga. They mainly cultivate Tempranillo and Garnacha, along with varieties such as Mazuelo, Graciano, and Tempranillo Blanco, the latter two being subjects of research to rescue their oenological value and enrich the diversity of Rioja Baja.
