Since it was founded in 1858, Marqués de Riscal has been synonymous with innovation, boldness and excellence. A pioneer in a winemaking sector in constant evolution, the winery has always known how to take risks in order to move forward and challenge the limits of what is established.

It was the first winery in Rioja to apply Bordeaux winemaking methods and to bottle wine, with its historic 1862 vintage. Decades later, in 1970, it once again led the way by becoming a pioneer in the Rueda D.O., betting on white wines when very few were doing so.

In 2006, the opening of the Hotel Marqués de Riscal, designed by architect Frank O. Gehry, elevated the wine experience to a new dimension, turning the winery into an icon of wine tourism and a benchmark destination visited every year by more than 100,000 people.

Today, with a global presence and wines recognized across five continents, Marqués de Riscal reaffirms its leadership with the title of World’s Best Vineyard 2024, awarded by the prestigious international ranking World’s Best Vineyards — an accolade that celebrates the nonconformist and innovative spirit that has defined the winery for over a century and a half.
